What is the Volkswagen Polo Beats?

Though the Beats model is considered to be a special edition for the Polo range, it was actually available for several years, spanning multiple generations of this popular supermini.

The key appeal, of course, is the Beats sound system. Depending on which model year you go for, it’s rated at up to 300W.

Besides the sound system, a used Polo Beats comes with plenty of styling enhancements over lower-spec models.

What are the Volkswagen Polo Beats specs?

The cheapest form of Polo Beats came with a 1.0-litre petrol engine that produces either 65hp or 80hp. It’s economical and makes for a great first car.

Many buyers opted for the upgraded turbocharged 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which has a higher 95hp output, making it better suited for out-of-town driving.

Older previous-generation models came with a 60hp 1.0-litre engine or a 90hp 1.2-litre engine. An 80hp 1.6-litre diesel engine was also an option, but these are far less common.

Used Volkswagen Polo Beats features and equipment

The perks of having a Beats model are a sporty bodykit with stylish alloy wheels, tinted glass, front fog lights that illuminate the lower section of the road when you corner, sporty front seats and, of course, the all-important Beats sound system.

They’re based on mid-spec SE models, which means they get electric windows, a drawer to hide away valuables under the passenger seat, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Polo also gets air-conditioning, plenty of safety kit, and even a smartphone app that connects to the car via its diagnostics port.

Where the Polo Beats sits in the Volkswagen range

Beats is a special edition version of the Polo that's based on the popular SE trim. Beneath the SE trim is the entry-level S.

Match is another mid-spec option, similar to the SE. SEL models add even more to the SE trim.

At the top of the range is the R-Line, second only to the GTI hot hatch, which is generally considered a separate vehicle because it only comes with a far more powerful engine.
