The Toyota Auris is a dependable family hatchback that's reliable, economical and very popular. Underneath, it's essentially a Toyota Corolla but was renamed the Auris for the UK in 2006. About Toyota Auris 

The Toyota Auris launched in 2006 as a rebadged Corolla, and was an instant success, selling millions of models in Europe alone.   

The first hybrid model followed shortly after in 2010, which led Toyota to become the first and only carmaker to produce a family hatchback with three different engine options. 

When the second generation arrived, it was offered in a ‘Touring’ body style that grew the hatchback slightly into an estate.   

The Auris is offered in a range of different trims, from the entry-level Icon to the range-topping Excel. 

It’s a sleek and reliable model that’s perfect for just about any motorist – it has the space that families need, but isn’t too bulky for the solo driver.  

You also benefit from the Corolla blueprint and well-seasoned Toyota engineering, so a used Toyota Auris is a model you can really trust.  

What features does the Toyota Auris have?

The highlights of the Auris, as with all Toyota models, are its strong build quality, reliability, safety, and frugal nature.  

Every trim level of the Auris is well equipped, with each offering power-adjustable mirrors, air-conditioning, a sound system, seven airbags, a multifunction steering wheel that allows the driver to control volume levels while driving, for example, and hill-start assistance.   

Optional extras include a leather steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, sat-nav, cruise control, LED headlights, and parking assistance. 

The total bootspace for the hatchback is 337 litres, whereas the estate has 507 litres of rear bootspace. 

Another feature of the Touring variant is its towing capabilities – the diesel engine will handle up to 1,300kg with ease.

What's the Toyota Auris like to drive?

The main engine option available on used Toyota Auris models is the 1.8-litre hybrid petrol engine because this was the most popular choice for buyers. It’s great for upping your fuel efficiency.  

The engine and hybrid power produce a combined 134hp, which is plenty to hustle this 1,385kg family hatchback down the road.  

There's also a smaller 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine available, as well as a 1.6-litre diesel unit.
