Vitara
A used Suzuki Vitara is a more affordable alternative to the Range Rover Evoque and is arguably more reliable.
This is a crossover SUV that offers plenty of space, practicality, comfort, safety and reliability. It first came out in 1988 and has since come on a long way, becoming a more civilised and appropriate family vehicle instead of a rugged off-road vehicle.
The current shape arrived in 2015 to take on the Peugeot 2008, Nissan Juke and Renault Captur – and it does a very good job of this too.
Think of it as a more grown-up, larger version of the Suzuki Jimny, one of the most impressive budget off-roaders on the market.
It also comes with the Suzuki reputation for being an all-rounder that you know you can rely on.
Inside, the Vitara follows Suzuki’s trend of being simple yet effective. This is no bad thing, however, because everything is where it should be and the entire cabin is very clean and functional.
All Vitara models come as standard with a sound system, DAB digital radio, a CD player, steering wheel controls and Bluetooth/USB connectivity.
Higher model trims include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in sat-nav and better speakers.
There's also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring on offer.
Overall interior space is impressive too, and it offers plenty of legroom and headroom for passengers and the driver.
The boot measures in at 375 litres and grows to 710 litres with the rear seats folded flat. The opening for the boot is nice and wide, allowing plenty of room to slide cases or boxes in.
You can see the full range of features in each model by taking a look at our current used Suzuki Vitara listings.
As of 2021, there's just one engine option on offer for the Suzuki Vitara: a 1.4-litre mild hybrid unit that produces 129hp.
This engine either drives the front wheels or all four wheels, depending on the trim level. Allgrip versions are the 4x4 variants – they’re a great option for heading off the beaten track, and the mild hybrid tech is great for fuel efficiency.
The front-wheel drive Vitara models can return up to 49.7mpg, while the front-wheel drive models can return up to 45.4mpg.
You can also grab petrol and diesel engines on the used market, even if they’re no longer part of Suzuki’s brand-new line-up.
There’s a 1.0-litre and 1.6-litre petrol option, plus a 1.6-litre diesel that’s great for longer journeys.
The cost of a used Suzuki Vitara on finance will depend on the type of finance you go for and the model you choose.

The Suzuki Vitara would be the perfect vehicle for someone wanting a practical, fuel-efficient and cheap-to-run 4x4 that offers good comfort and enjoyment.
Some Vitara models do have four-wheel drive. What you need to look out for is ones with Allgrip in the name – this signifies that it is a 4x4 model.
The Vitara has a maximum towing capacity of 1,200kg, meaning it can pull a trailer or a small caravan.
