Start nowMercedes’ GLB (2019-present) was made popular by its third row of seats but it’s a little closer to home than that, sharing its engines with the A-Class and chassis with the smaller GLA.
There are five different trims on offer, with the most popular being an AMG Line iteration.
The GLB’s main appeal is its boxy shape, which makes it easy to park and manoeuvre in tight spaces. But like all Mercedes, it also benefits from a classy interior.
We say this because it’s almost a copy and paste from the A-Class, with lots of soft leather and a large central infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Having seven seats, the GLB is very roomy for a car of its size. Its boot isn’t as large as a Land Rover Discovery Sport or Skoda Kodiaq, but 500 litres (growing to 1,055 litres with the rear seats folded) is still plenty for most people.
Being a Mercedes SUV, there are very few things to be concerned about regarding reliability. All models feature tried-and-tested parts, solid engines and great on-board safety features.
Following its most recent Euro NCAP crash test in 2019, the GLB scored a full five stars thanks to airbags all around, rear ISOFIX child seat points, automatic emergency braking and more.
The GLB can be had with either a petrol or diesel engine, with the high-performance model offering a punchier turbocharged 305hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine.
The smaller petrol is ideal for most people, but we’d recommend the diesel engine if you tend to do longer motorway journeys. All engines are mated to an automatic gearbox that means greater fuel efficiency.
There’s no hybrid option, but Mercedes does make an all-electric EQB that offers 256 miles of range and can be charged fully using a fast charger in just over an hour, costing approximately 75p per kWh.
A used Mercedes GLB is ideal for families who can benefit from the extra seats and who’d benefit from its boxy shape, making it easier to place in any parking space.
It’s also packed full of the latest and greatest tech; with all the mod-cons you could possibly want.
The cost to buy a used Mercedes GLB on finance will depend on the specific model variant you pick, as prices will always vary across the range.
Our GLB models are available on finance deals, giving you the option to spread the cost.
The GLB can be had with either five or seven seats, if you need the extra row of seats.
The Mercedes GLC is larger than the GLB, but has fewer seats (five) and a larger 550-litre boot as standard.
The GLB is made in both Mexico and China in partnership with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
It's not as luxurious as the S-Class, but as small SUVs go, it’s one of the most high-end examples you can have.
