Mercedes-Benz
B-Class
The Mercedes-Benz B-Class is closely related to the A-Class hatchback, but you wouldn’t know it from the masses on interior space you get in comparison. It can easily seat five adult passengers, while still maintaining plenty of boot space for luggage.
However, if it’s luxury you are after, then the B-Class has you covered. Just like all other modern Mercedes models, the B-Class is fitted with the brand’s class-leading MBUX touchscreen infotainment system.
It competes with cars such as the Volkswagen Golf SV, Renault Scenic and the Citroen C4 Space Tourer, but the luxe Mercedes-Benz reputation gives the B-Class an edge.
There’s a wide range of models to choose from, too. There’s the sporty GT-Line, the range-topping Premium Plus, and options for both petrol and diesel.
A used Mercedes-Benz B-Class is ideal if you need to transport people or luggage. Being sized like an MPV, it copes perfectly with whatever you need to fill it with.
The boot measures in at 455 litres but can be increased to a staggering 1,540 litres when the rear seats are folded – making it the best in its class.
The entry-level B-Class model is the Sport trim, offering climate control, LED headlights, heated front seats, and a handy seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit.
This system can be controlled via the touchpad on the centre console or via buttons on the steering wheel, so it's easy to use. Alternatively, you can simply say 'Hey Mercedes' and recite your command from there.
You’d be hard-pressed to differentiate the entry-level model from the range-topping Premium Plus trim, but the extended 10.25-inch instrument cluster and touchscreen might give it away.
There’s also the AMG Line, which gets sportier steering and a lower suspension for a more aggressive vibe.
You can see the full range of features in each model by checking our current used Mercedes-Benz B-Class listings.
There’s a wide range of Mercedes-Benz B-Class engines to choose from, but each one has that classic Mercedes feel.
The entry-level engine option that comes with the B180 model is a 1.33-litre petrol engine that produces 134hp.
Going up from there is the B200’s 161hp engine, which offers a little more punch but perhaps isn’t the best choice if you plan on driving around with a full car most of the time, and is better for everyday driving.
Instead, something like the B220 or B250’s 2.0-litre petrol engines would be a better choice as they offer more power to get larger loads moving.
However, if you would rather opt for a diesel variant then we would suggest looking at the B220d, which produces 190hp and will serve you better for longer journeys, offering an average fuel consumption of 56.5mpg.
The cost of a used Mercedes B-Class on finance will depend on the model you pick and the type of finance, as prices vary across the range.
You can use our finance calculator on the model pages to work out a deal that fits your budget.
Being related to the Mercedes A-Class, the B-Class does very well when it comes to keeping its occupants safe and levels of reliability.
All B-Class model variants are front-wheel drive, no matter the chosen engine. This is the best system for this class of car in order to save weight and maximise efficiency.
A used Mercedes B-Class is a perfect family car for those wanting copious amounts of interior space, a large boot, excellent technology, and comfort. Importantly, it can comfortably seat five adults.
The Mercedes-Benz B-Class is an incredibly comfortable car due to its plush leather interior and modern comforts. After all, this is the same brand that makes the uber-luxurious S-Class, so you’d expect some of that comfort to trickle down.
