What types of used Kia ProCeed cars are there?

Since Kia launched the third-generation Ceed in 2018, the ProCeed has been the name used for the South Korean manufacturer’s compact estate model, which it describes as a shooting brake – a stylish, almost coupé-like family wagon.

Before this, the ProCeed was styled ‘Pro_cee’d’ – a bit of a mouthful considering it was simply a three-door version of the regular Ceed (which was back then referred to as the Cee’d.)

Regardless of body shape, the Kia ProCeed benefits from Kia’s high-quality manufacturing and all the attention to detail and value for money associated with the regular Ceed.

Being a sporty estate, the ProCeed is only available in Kia’s highest trim levels, GT-Line and GT-Line S, which is great news for used car buyers, because plenty of equipment comes as standard.

Kia has been using the ProCeed/Pro_cee’d name in one format or another since the original Ceed/Cee’d from 2006.

> Second-generation Kia Pro_ceed (2012) - another three-door variant of the Cee’d, this one was available with a sporty GT option

What features does the Kia ProCeed have?

In its third-generation format, the Kia ProCeed comes with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and an eight-inch touchscreen with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Already an exceptionally well-kitted-out car, upgrades over the years have added things like LED headlights and a larger infotainment display.

Even the oldest GT-Line S cars include a sunroof, heated rear seats, adaptive cruise control, a powered boot lid, wireless phone charging and an upgraded JBL sound system.

Is the Kia ProCeed reliable?

Don’t be fooled by its unusual name, because the Kia ProCeed shares almost all of its parts with the regular Ceed, which is an extremely popular hatchback, not least for its dependability and reliability.

Like any other Kia car, the ProCeed is backed with a seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty, which gets passed on to used buyers.

How much does the Kia ProCeed cost to run?

The Kia ProCeed is most commonly seen with the petrol engines – an earlier 1.4-litre unit or a newer 1.5-litre engine. Both are turbocharged and offer a decent punch while maintaining reasonable fuel efficiency.

High-mileage drivers will value the 1.6-litre diesel’s improved fuel economy, but whichever you go for, insurance and maintenance should be average or below.

Who is the Kia ProCeed suitable for?

There’s no denying that SUVs and crossovers have taken over, but the prospect of an estate’s added flexibility without it being substantially bigger than a hatchback is very appealing.
