Renegade
The Jeep Renegade launched in 2014 as Jeep’s smallest model, and created its own niche in the market as an off-road-capable small SUV that offered a surprising amount of practicality.
The Renegade is based on the same platform as the Fiat 500X, which can be traced back to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. This shows the Renegade features tried-and-tested components throughout.
Some of its main rivals are the Mini Countryman, Audi Q2, Toyota C-HR and even its sister car, the Fiat 500X.
There are plenty of different engines to choose from, including the recent hybrid variant. These feature throughout the different trim levels: Limited; Longitudinal; and TrailHawk.
You also get the brilliant Jeep reputation for capable and well-built SUVs with off-roading ability. It’s an ideal option for any motorist looking for a ruffed, outdoorsy model that’s still practical for daily use.
Inside, the Jeep Renegade is a spacious and practical car, despite it not looking all that big from the outside.
Standard equipment available includes electric mirrors, dual-zone air-con and parking sensors.
Every Renegade model also comes with lots of nods to the car’s ancestors, including brake lights designed to resemble US army petrol cans, mud splatter graphics on the rev counter and little Jeeps dotted around the place – see how many you can spot on yours!
In addition to this, every model from 2018 comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. There's also built-in sat-nav, USB charging capabilities and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Renegade offers 351 litres of boot space, which grows to 1,297 litres once the rear seats are folded flat. There's also a decent amount of interior cabin space for up to five passengers.
You can see the full range of features on each model by taking a look at our current used Jeep Renegade listings.
You can get a used Jeep Renegade with a choice of engines – petrol, diesel and hybrid.
Kicking off the Renegade engine range are two petrol engines – a 120hp model and a 150hp model. These are best suited to those who do a lot of short trips around town and the occasional longer journey.
Moving up in the range is the 130hp self-charging hybrid variant that returns up to 40mpg, which would be a good option if you take longer drives, as the engine charges this battery up.
However, if you want a proper hybrid then you should probably opt for the 240hp plug-in hybrid variant, which offers up to 26 miles of fully electric range, making it ideal for driving in and around towns or cities.
Older models were available with the choice of a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which would be the best choice for longer motorway journeys.
The cost of a used Jeep Renegade on finance will depend on the model you choose and the type of finance you go for. You can use our online finance calculator to get a quote.
Because the Jeep Renegade shares its platform with the popular Fiat 500X, it should offer strong levels of reliability thanks to the Stellantis Group ownership that covers both vehicles and many more.
Standard Renegade models come as front-wheel drive only, but some Sport, Latitude and Limited trims are available with four-wheel drive.
Yes, we would consider the Jeep Renegade to be a safe car because it offers all the standard safety equipment you’d expect to find in a small SUV, and it's built very well.
Depending on the model you have, the 2.0-litre diesel Renegade can tow up to 1,500kg, with other petrol models managing around 1,250kg.
