What is the Ford Edge Sport?

A used Edge Sport is one of the earlier examples of this big SUV because the company later replaced this trim level with ST-Line. All of this means that you should be able to find very affordable Ford Edge Sport cars for sale.

There weren’t many trim levels offered in the case of the Ford Edge, and because there were no low-spec versions, any model you buy is well-equipped, including the Ford Edge Sport.

Despite the name and cosmetic upgrades, it’s no sportier than any other Edge, which means you shouldn’t have to pay much more in insurance and other running costs.

What are the Ford Edge Sport specs?

Being such a large car, it’s no surprise that the Ford Edge Sport is only for sale with powerful diesel engines.

The only option is a 2.0-litre unit, but power output varies depending on whether you go for a manual (180hp) or a smooth-shifting dual-clutch automatic (210hp).

The automatic is slightly quicker and both come with four-wheel drive, which makes them excellent tow cars.

Used Ford Edge Sport features and equipment

Perks of going for a used Ford Edge Sport over a lower trim level include a more engaging driving setup with stiffer suspension and adaptive steering, as well as an upgraded infotainment system.

All models come with front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, automatic lights and wipers, interior ambient lighting and automatic high beams, but some were sold with adaptive LED headlights, which was an optional extra.

The Ford Edge Sport also comes with a powered boot lid that opens with the waving motion of your foot under the rear bumper.

Where the Edge Sport sits in the Ford range

Sport is the highest of two trim levels offered on the Edge, with the equally well-equipped Titanium model sitting slightly below it.

Earlier on, there was also an entry-level Edge Zetec, but most buyers tended to go for higher trim levels so you won’t find many of these because Ford stopped selling the Zetec.

When the car got a mid-life upgrade, Sport was replaced by ST-Line, and a premium Vignale model was also introduced.
