What is the BMW X7 M Sport?

The BMW X7 is the German manufacturer’s large and luxurious SUV version of the seriously plush 7 Series, so you know you’ll be getting nothing short of the best.

As standard, it’s sold as a seven-seater, but watch out for some cars which were specced as six-seaters – they have two separate middle seats, like armchairs, rather than a row of three.

M Sport is a sporty and high-level option across the BMW range, but in the case of the X7, it’s the entry point, because this car is designed to give you the best.

What are the BMW X7 M Sport specs?

When the car first went on sale, there were two engine options for the X7 M Sport. The most popular was the 265hp 3.0-litre diesel, badged the xDrive30d, which is generally considered to be the most efficient.

There’s also a petrol option – it’s also a 3.0-litre unit, but it produces 340hp. Look for the xDrive40i if you want this model.

Newer cars have a 352hp 3.0-litre diesel in place of the less powerful option that came with earlier cars – it’s called the xDrive40d. The xDrive40i petrol model also got a power upgrade to 381hp.

Used BMW X7 M Sport features and equipment

It’s impossible to list everything you get with a BMW X7 M Sport, but some of the staples include a panoramic sunroof, a powered boot lid, soft-close doors, heated seats and four-zone climate control.

You also get adaptive LED headlights, keyless entry, cruise control, all-around parking sensors, huge alloy wheels and lots of chrome styling finishes.

Car tech is also top-notch because apart from the two 12.3-inch screens you get (one for the touchscreen infotainment system and one behind the steering wheel), you also get a digital key fob with a mini touchscreen for controlling some of the car’s functionalities.

Where the X7 M Sport sits in the BMW range

M Sport was the only option when this car was first launched, except the performance M50d car.

If you’re looking at newer cars, there’s also an Excellence trim. It’s just as luxurious but has a more premium style rather than the sporty approach of the M Sport.

Newer cars replaced the M50d with an M60i model, so you can take your pick of petrol or diesel power if you’re looking at the performance versions.
