What is the BMW X6 M Sport?

The BMW X6 has been credited with making coupé-SUV models popular, and while many manufacturers now have their own equivalents, the X6 is considered to be the original model.

The M Sport trim is a popular option across the entire range, including the X6, which looks even sportier with this stylish makeover.

There have been BMW X6 M Sport cars for sale for many years, so while they can be pricey to buy new, you can certainly pick up a bargain on the used market.

What are the BMW X6 M Sport specs?

Being a sporty model, the BMW X6 comes with large and powerful 3.0-litre straight-six engines, including a 381hp petrol, badged 40i.

The most popular are the diesel variants, which have 298hp in the case of the 30d and 352hp in the case of the 40d.

On one end of the scale are newer models that have mild hybrid technology to reduce emissions, but on the other is an extremely quick 450hp 4.4-litre V8 engine.

Used BMW X6 M Sport features and equipment

Because this car has been on sale for so many years, the X6 M Sport has seen many updates from BMW, so equipment levels vary by model year.

As a guide, the latest cars come with LED headlights, a powered boot lid, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, cruise control and interior ambient lighting.

They also get a touchscreen infotainment system and, for facelifted models, a sharp digital instrument display.

Be aware of optional extras, which add things like four-zone climate control, heating for front and rear seats, the steering wheel and even the armrests and cupholders, soft-close doors, cooled front seats, a self-parking system and an upgraded sound system.

Where the X6 M Sport sits in the BMW range

Although there are three versions of the BMW X6 to pick from, it’s likely the second- and third-generation models that you’ll be considering, which place M Sport at the top of the lineup.

Mid-spec Sport and entry-level SE cars have also been available over the years, but neither are what you’d call short on equipment.

There are also a few performance variants to consider, such as the M50d, M50i and M60i, plus the seriously fast (and expensive) X5 M.
