Engine options for the X4 M Sport are pretty limited, but they cover a lot of ground, offering an excellent blend of fuel economy and speed.

The 190hp 20d engine is a popular choice and comes with extra fuel-saving tech in newer models, which feature mild hybrid assistance.

A 3.0-litre diesel is also available – it’s the 286hp 30d, which is as quick as some hot hatches but should still be able to get around 40mpg.
