What is the BMW 1 Series SE?

The BMW 1 Series is a long-standing favourite among driving enthusiasts, and it’s a model that has plenty of sporting history.

Despite being the entry-level model, a BMW 1 Series SE for sale still benefits from that engaging driving setup, and its efficient engines make it more affordable to run.

What are the BMW 1 Series SE specs?

Because it’s an efficiency-focused model, the SE trim doesn’t offer all the engine options, so you'll have to make do with the 190hp 120d diesel.

Instead, you can choose between a 150hp 2.0-litre diesel badged 118d, which is an excellent all-rounder, and a 116hp 116d model, which uses a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine.

There’s also a 1.5-litre petrol, badged 118i, which has 140hp and is an excellent pick for those who spend most of their time around town.

Used BMW 1 Series SE features and equipment

Third-generation 2019-onward models, known as F40, come with plenty of modern car tech features like automatic LED headlights and wipers, front and rear parking sensors and cruise control.

You also get an excellent infotainment system, called iDrive, which works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

There are some worthwhile optional extras to consider, like keyless entry (which even works with compatible iPhone models), a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
