What is the Audi A1 Sport?

Although the Audi A1 can be more expensive than some other budget-friendly superminis, the Sport model ensures that you get good value for money.

Being a mid-spec model, a used Audi A1 Sport comes with plenty of equipment and is built to a high quality.

As the name suggests, it also takes some styling cues from Audi’s performance models – like the S1 – but without the associated high running costs.

What are the Audi A1 Sport specs?

Because the A1 Sport is such a small and light car, the engines it comes with are pretty small but the car still feels agile and nimble, and it's also good on fuel.

Newer models come with a pair of 1.0-litre petrols, either the 95hp 25 TFSI or the 110hp 30 TFSI.

Audi also sold a 150hp 1.5-litre petrol, badged 35 TFSI, and a 116hp 1.6-litre diesel, badged 30 TDI, as well as a few other options in older models.

Used Audi A1 Sport features and equipment

Sport has been a staple ever since the Audi A1 was first launched, so there are a few model years to pick from and equipment levels can vary from car to car.

As a guide, newer models come with LED headlights, air-conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors and ambient lighting.

They also come with two displays – a digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Where the A1 Sport sits in the Audi range

Sport’s position in the A1 range has shifted slightly in recent years, and it’s now the entry-level model, but it still comes loaded with kit.

Above it are S line and Black Edition models, and there have even been some premium-feeling Vorsprung editions, though these weren’t sold for long.

In the case of some older models, Sport sits above entry-level SE and Technik trim levels.
