The engines you’ll have access to depend on which model year you want. For second-generation 2018-onward cars, there’s only a 116hp 1.0-litre petrol, badged 30 TFSI.

If you’re looking at older first-generation models, you can have a 95hp 1.0-litre petrol or a 116hp 1.6-litre diesel.

The engine options are fine, and they suit most drivers, but if you’re after something with a bit more power, you’ll need to consider higher trim levels.

The Audi A1 SE has been on sale for many years, so it’s important to check any individual listing to be sure you’re getting what you want.

As a guide, second-generation cars come with alloy wheels, LED headlights, automatic lights and wipers and air-conditioning.
