Skoda Enyaq iV 80x Sportline lands with 265hp of electric punch

Czech brand is betting on electric SUVs being all the rage with its hot new battery-powered entrant

article hero

The march of the electric SUV is now in full swing, as highlighted by the expansion of Skoda’s Enyaq iV range, which has just received a new range-topping variant called the 80x Sportline. Using a pair of electric motors, one powering each axle, the SUV produces 265hp and can eke out 303 miles between charges. It shares much with the electric ID.4 from sister brand Volkswagen, but in-keeping with Skoda tradition, the hottest Enyaq iV comes with a heavy sprinkling of value for money to justify a £46,610 starting price.

Firstly, with 313lb ft of torque – the muscle that helps ensure cars can haul themselves about without much stress – the 80x Sportline ought to feel really rather effortless. It can accelerate from a standing start to 62mph in 6.9 seconds, which is pretty good going for such a hefty machine. Top speed is limited to 99mph, identical to the rest of the range, because each Enyaq electric motor only has one gear. If you’re wondering, the motor spins at 16,000 revs per minute at top speed. Something to get your head around!

Of course, speed isn’t the sole purpose of this machine; instead the five-seat Enyaq’s practicality and plushness has been given an air of sportiness thanks to the twin-motor 80x Sportline setup. Those won over by the formula will no doubt see much to like in a cabin dressed with Skoda’s highest rank materials, including leathers, Alcantara and soft-touch plastics. Like the exterior design, the interior does little to emphasise the car’s electric setup, instead sticking with more typical aesthetics, which will suit sensible people. How very Skoda.

The sensible theme has been ingrained into Skoda's models since before the turn of the millennium. The Volkswagen Group-owned company has made plenty of great cars, something cinch buyers can easily benefit from thanks to the prevalence of Skodas in our stock. We have a range of Skodas on sale, ranging from the small but enormously talented Citigo, to a brace of top-spec Karoqs and Kodiaqs – and a selection of sporty vRS models in between.

Sales for the Enyaq iV 80x Sportline kick off next month, and it won’t be long until Enyaqs start joining our list of available Skodas. With so much to choose from already, though, some might find it hard to wait. Skodas are already as good for the brain as they are the heart. Rallye Green Octavia vRS, anyone?
