What features does the SsangYong Korando have?

The Korando is a comfortable car with light steering and the ability to tow up to 1,800kg braked without feeling sluggish.  

The chunkier sizing and spacious interior are great for families, providing a clear view of the road, and the parking sensors help with navigating tight spots.  

Ventura and Ultimate models include a 10.8-inch digital instrument cluster, with an eight-inch infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus, Ultimate models get built-in sat-nav.  

We’re a fan of the driving position in the Korando, and the high-up location of the infotainment unit makes it easy to stay focused on the road while following the sat-nav. The top trim level also gets adjustable lumbar support for the driver. 

Is the SsangYong Korando reliable?

The Korando was awarded a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating in 2019, with an 88% adult occupant rating and 85% for children.  

You’ll find plenty of safety features on offer as well, including systems like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist, lane departure warning system, and traffic sign recognition.  

SsangYong offers a seven-year/150,000-mile warranty on Korando models, so you know it has faith in the car.  

The Korando isn’t widely popular on UK roads yet but is slowly building a fanbase, and it has previously performed well on consumer satisfaction surveys.  

How much does the SsangYong Korando cost to run?

There are a few engines on offer in the Korando range and each have slightly different fuel costs.  

The 1.5-litre manual petrol engine that’s on offer in the ELX, Venture and Ultimate trims offers up to 36.9mpg based on combined WLTP statistics, while the automatic version – which is available in Ventura and Ultimate trims – can achieve up to 35.5mpg.  

The 1.6-litre diesel engine is capable of up to 45.5mpg and is the most economical and is available in Ultimate models.  

Models usually sit in insurance groups between 21 to 32, so you likely won’t find it too expensive to insure either.

The SsangYong Korando is a practical SUV that ticks many boxes and is impressive for its ability to offer entry-level models at an affordable price point.
