What is the Ford S-Max ST-Line?

Before the world went SUV-mad, Ford used to sell two seven-seater people carriers. The S-Max is slightly smaller than the Galaxy, which means it drives more like a regular car.

It also looks more like a regular car because it has a low-slung design that’s accentuated by the sporty bodykit on S-Max ST-Line models.

Ford stopped building the S-Max in 2023, so you can pick from reasonably new ones or older used S-Max ST-Line cars for a more budget-friendly option.

What are the Ford S-Max ST-Line specs?

There’s a reasonable amount of choice when it comes to used S-Max ST-Line engines, but there’s only one petrol – it’s a 165hp 1.5-litre unit.

There are plenty of 2.0-litre diesel engines available, with power outputs of 120hp, 150hp, 190hp and 240hp. For the most part, an ST-Line version will come with one of the more powerful engines.

More recently, Ford also introduced a 190hp 2.5-litre hybrid option – it’s the same one you’ll find in the latest-generation Kuga.

Used Ford S-Max ST-Line features and equipment

Used Ford S-Max ST-Line cars for sale are instantly recognisable by their sporty aesthetic, including large alloy wheels and black styling in place of chrome details. They also get red brake callipers that are reminiscent of sports cars.

A newer ST-Line model will come with a heated steering wheel, electrically adjustable heated front seats, keyless entry and a part-digital instrument cluster.

All versions of the S-Max also get front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, dual-zone climate control and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Where the S-Max ST-Line sits in the Ford range

ST-Line sits on a similar level to the well-equipped and popular Titanium model, but it does come with a few extras.

Previously, lower-spec Zetec models were also available, but Ford stopped selling these. There was also a Titanium Sport version, which was replaced by the desirable ST-Line model.

At the top of the range are Vignale editions, which come with plenty of luxurious kit, but they can be more expensive to buy.
