What is the Ford EcoSport Zetec?

The Ford EcoSport is the brand’s smallest and most affordable crossover, though it’s no longer on sale as the similarly sized Puma has indirectly replaced it in a more stylish, coupé-like format.

Don’t be put off by this being the entry-level model, because you still get access to Ford’s excellent range of engines.

The pick of the bunch is the 100hp 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol, which is reasonably punchy and has fuel economy figures to rival many diesel engines. On that note, if you drive longer distances, the 100hp 1.5-litre diesel may be more up your street.

Depending on the model year, other options include a more powerful 125hp 1.0-litre petrol and a less powerful 95hp 1.5-litre diesel.

The Ford EcoSport was on sale in the UK for 10 years – between 2012 and 2022 – so the standard kit depends greatly on which version you choose.

As a guide, some of the newer models come with cruise control, air-conditioning and a handy heated windscreen to save you time and effort in those colder winter months.

Look for a facelifted model, sold after 2017, for a hugely upgraded touchscreen infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The EcoSport never sold in the same numbers as popular models like the Fiesta and Focus, and this is reflected in the trim level choices.
