New 2026 Vauxhall Astra facelift is smarter than ever
The updated Vauxhall Astra adds more comfort, new colours and a whole new meaning to an illuminated front-end.

What’s new?
New Vauxhall Astra lightbar
)
‘Vauxhall Vizor’ with illuminated badge, lightbar and compass light signature
Intelli-Lux matrix LED headlights with over 50,000 lighting elements
The big news is a next-generation ‘Vauxhall Vizor’ front end that’s standard across all trim levels, which takes the increasingly popular lightbar and takes it up a notch.
Apart from the illuminated Griffin badge on the grille (a first-ever for Vauxhall, inspired by the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept) and a full-width lightbar that continues into the headlights, the Astra now features a new ‘compass’ design.
This has a shorter, vertical light signature ‘north’ and ‘south’ of the illuminated Griffin.
This continues a theme we’ve already become accustomed to with the Astra, with its vertical brake light above the rear windscreen that continues into this update.
Vauxhall has also upgraded the Astra’s headlights with the latest-generation Intelli-Lux HD clusters.
It features over 50,000 individual lighting elements to better adapt to oncoming traffic while maintaining maximum visibility at night.
New Vauxhall Astra Intelli-Seats
)
AGR-certified Intelli-Seats with coccyx relief standard on all trims
Optional upgrades with electro-pneumatic lumbar support and massage
The brand’s Intelli-Seats are also standard across the range, featuring a recessed channel that runs down the centre of the seat base to relieve pressure on the coccyx – perfect for longer drives.
These AGR-certified seats can be upgraded with electro-pneumatic lumbar adjustment (this uses an air cushion enclosed within the seatback) and massage functionality.
New Vauxhall Astra new colours and extras
)
New ‘Clover Green’ and ‘Contour White’ exterior colours
Three new alloy wheel designs, measuring 17 and 18 inches
Standard-fit black contrast roof
Satin interior trim replaces high-gloss plastic
A new ‘Clover Green’ option is set to be offered on the Sports Tourer (estate) variant only – the first time Vauxhall has ever offered a green Astra. ‘Contour White’, which has a slight greyish hue, is also a new addition.
Three new alloy designs are also coming to the range, including the 17-inch ‘Kaddett’ and ‘Pentagon’ and ‘Rekord’ in 18 inches.
Up top, a contrasting black roof comes as standard to give the Astra a squatter, sportier look, and all hints of chrome have been removed (as is becoming the trend across the industry).
Inside might be where the best colour/material change comes in, though, because high-gloss piano black trim has been swapped out for a satin anthracite trim, which should show scratches and fingerprints less glaringly.
New Vauxhall Astra engine options:
Hybrid 145 – a 1.2-litre mild hybrid with 145hp capable of driving around 50% of town journeys with the engine off, resulting in up to 50mpg
Plug-in Hybrid 195 – new 17.2kWh battery is good for up to 53 miles of pure electric range, paired with new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox
Astra Electric – a 156hp motor gets power from a new, bigger 58.4kWh battery for 282 miles of range (up 22 miles from its predecessor), with three levels of regenerative braking available
When is it coming?
Brussels Motor Show (January 2026) is the world premiere of the facelifted Vauxhall Astra. We expect cars to start hitting the road after March 2026.
