On-board diagnostics (OBD)

What are on-board diagnostics?

On-board diagnostics (OBD) refers to a car's ability to self-diagnose and report any issues about how the vehicle is running. OBD systems also give the car owner or mechanic access to the status of the vehicle systems, by plugging in a computer.

Modern cars have an OBD II port within the car, which allows qualified technicians with the right software to diagnose mechanical problems, boost performance, and more.
