Negative Equity

What is negative equity?

In the simplest terms, negative equity is when your car has lost value quicker than you've made payments.

You'll need to settle any negative equity before ending your finance agreement. Your dealer can usually help with this, and your options include paying the difference in cash or rolling it into your next car finance agreement.

Early trade-ins can increase the risk of negative equity, as well as lower initial deposits and long loan terms.
