)
Drivers love the Audi A3 for just how many boxes it ticks – whether you're a solo driver, a commuter or have a young family in tow, it’s the perfect premium hatchback.
It’s also one of the most configurable – besides the volume of paint colours (and there are plenty to pick from), you’ve also got a choice of petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, manual, dual-clutch automatic and two degrees of performance in the hot S3 and RS 3.
The fourth generation was introduced in 2020 and went on to have a mid-life upgrade in 2024. It’s that model that we’ll cover here.
Audi A3 colours: what shades are available?
Standard black and white solid colours start the options list, but metallic and pearlescent upgrades don’t cost as much as you might think for a premium brand.
Beyond that, you have Audi’s exclusive colour options, which include the iconic Nardo grey, a choice of metallic, pearlescent or matte finishes, and the option to specify your exact colour preference even if Audi doesn’t commercially produce it.

Popular Audi A3 colour choices
The Audi is a really popular car, but that’s not to say they all look the same, because there are so many configurations.
Cost-free solid black and white exteriors are an easy choice for drivers who aren’t bothered about paying to upgrade, but given how comparably affordable metallic upgrades are, many opt for Progressive red or Navarra blue.
If you want something more eye-catching and slightly rarer, consider District green or Python yellow.
If you’ve got deep pockets, the Audi exclusive colour range is certainly impressive, with the deep purple Merlin and two matte options standing out.
Of course, we can’t ignore Nardo grey, which became so popular that other manufacturers started imitating it.
Maintaining your A3's paintwork
)
Giving your A3 a regular wash every week or two helps keep road grime, salt and dirt at bay before they compromise the clear coat.
This is especially important in the winter months, with paint contaminants more likely to come into contact with your car, like grit.
You can also apply a wax or ceramic coating to add an extra layer of defence – it costs, but it’ll protect your paint in the long run, and you could even go longer between washes.
cinchShield protection is a great option if you’re buying a car on cinch, because it adds that all-important layer of protection against everyday road debris.
To maintain longevity, it’s wise to address minor stone chips or scratches immediately. This will prevent rust from forming, which can develop into a bigger problem later on.
Do certain Audi A3 colours impact resale value?
Neutral colours like black, white and grey are generally the most inoffensive if you want a quick sale, but there’s almost always going to be a buyer for a used Audi A3 regardless of colour.
So why not treat yourself and go for one of the eye-catching metallic finishes, or really invest in a premium finish?
Which colour used Audi A3 should I buy?
Pick the right Audi A3 for you – if you’re someone who doesn’t like attention, the free-charge solid black and white options are ideal.
