How much does the Volvo XC60 cost to run?

The 2.0L diesel is the most economical Volvo XC60 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Volvo XC60 2.0L diesel costs £30.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band C.

It does almost 63 MPG on average, which means it will cost £10.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Suzuki Vitara 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Audi Q3 2.0L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 28, which is lower than the Audi Q5 2.0L diesel, but higher than the Ford Kuga 2.0L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Suzuki Vitara has the lowest insurance group.)

Volvo XC60: How big is the boot?

The Volvo XC60 estate has a bigger boot than the SUV (it can hold 655 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This allows the estate to take one pushchair and 4 large bags or 5 large bags. While the SUV takes just 5 large bags.

Worth knowing, the Land Rover Discovery Sport SUV is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 7 large bags with its 981 litres.

Is the Volvo XC60 easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower Suzuki Jimny.

When it comes to parking on the street, the XC60 is one of the hardest. It has a turning circle of 12m, and a length of 4636m, giving you a relatively small 164mm gap to turn the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking instead, the Suzuki Jimny.

Which Volvo XC60 has the best performance?

The fastest Volvo XC60 from 0-60, is the 3.0L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 440 lbs/ft torque and 304 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 6.9 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Range Rover Evoque 2.0L petrol, which will beat your Volvo XC60 to 60 by 0.3 seconds. That doesn’t sound much, but in 0-60 terms it’s actually a big gap.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Volvo XC60 tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Volvo XC60 2.0L diesel which has 480 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 2400kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
