How much does the Vauxhall Mokka cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical Vauxhall Mokka to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Vauxhall Mokka 1.6L diesel costs £20.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band B.

It does just over 72 MPG on average, which means it will cost £8.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Citroen C4 Cactus 1.5L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 12, which is lower than the Fiat 500X 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Kia Soul 1.6L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Citroen C3 Aircross has the lowest insurance group.)

Vauxhall Mokka: How big is the boot?

The Vauxhall Mokka SUV has a bigger boot than the hatchback (it can hold 362 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This allows the SUV to take one pushchair and 2 large bags or 3 large bags. While the hatchback takes just 3 large bags.

Worth knowing, the Renault Kadjar hatchback is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 4 large bags with its 647 litres.

Is the Vauxhall Mokka easy to park?

While not the absolute narrowest car (that is the Citroen C4 Cactus), this is in the top third for ease of parking in car parks. Given a typical supermarket space, it will fill three quarters of the space.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the Mokka is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 526mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the Dacia Sandero Stepway.

Which Vauxhall Mokka has the best performance?

The fastest Vauxhall Mokka from 0-60, is the 1.4L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 200 lbs/ft torque and 140 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 9.3 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the BMW X1 2.0L diesel, which will beat your Vauxhall Mokka to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Vauxhall Mokka tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Vauxhall Mokka 1.6L diesel which has 320 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1650kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
