How much does the Vauxhall Corsa cost to run?

The 1.2L diesel is the most economical Vauxhall Corsa to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does just over 88 MPG on average, which means it will cost £7.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Peugeot 208 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Alfa Romeo Mito 1.2L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 9, which is lower than the Alfa Romeo Mito 1.2L diesel, but higher than the Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4L petrol. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Ford KA+ has the lowest insurance group.)

Vauxhall Corsa: How big is the boot?

The Vauxhall Corsa has an above average boot space (285 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and one large bag. Alternatively you could load up with 2 large bags or 2 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Skoda Fabia estate is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 3 large bags with its 515 litres.

Is the Vauxhall Corsa easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower Hyundai I10.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the Corsa is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 793mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the Smart Forfour.

Which Vauxhall Corsa has the best performance?

The fastest Vauxhall Corsa from 0-60, is the 1.6L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 280 lbs/ft torque and 205 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the MINI Hatchback 1.6L petrol, which will beat your Vauxhall Corsa to 60 by 0.2 seconds. That doesn’t sound much, but in 0-60 terms it’s actually a big gap.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Vauxhall Corsa tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Vauxhall Corsa 1.7L diesel which has 300 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1300kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
