How much does the Toyota Verso cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical Toyota Verso to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Toyota Verso 1.6L diesel costs £30.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band C.

It does just over 62 MPG on average, which means it will cost £10.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Nissan Note 1.5L diesel and the more thirsty Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.6L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 10, which is lower than the Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.5L diesel, but higher than the Peugeot Partner Tepee 1.6L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Peugeot Partner Tepee has the lowest insurance group.)

Toyota Verso: How big is the boot?

The Toyota Verso has a below average boot space (282 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and one large bag. Alternatively you could load up with 2 large bags or 2 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Citroen Berlingo Multispace MPV is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 5 large bags with its 762 litres.

Is the Toyota Verso easy to park?

While not the absolute narrowest car (that is the Nissan Note), this is in the top third for ease of parking in car parks. Given a typical supermarket space, it will fill three quarters of the space.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the Verso is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 349mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the Kia Venga.

Which Toyota Verso has the best performance?

The fastest Toyota Verso from 0-60, is the 2.2L diesel (if you’re a petrol head, it has 340 lbs/ft torque and 150 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 10.1 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Citroen C4 Picasso 1.6L petrol, which will beat your Toyota Verso to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Toyota Verso tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Toyota Verso 2.2L diesel which has 340 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1300kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
