How much does the Skoda Rapid cost to run?

The 1.4L diesel is the most economical Skoda Rapid to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Skoda Rapid 1.4L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does not far off 79 MPG on average, which means it will cost £8.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Peugeot 308 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Mercedes Benz A Class 1.5L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 14, which is lower than the Ford Focus 1.5L diesel, but higher than the Mercedes Benz B Class 1.5L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Honda Civic has the lowest insurance group.)

Skoda Rapid: How big is the boot?

The Skoda Rapid has an above average boot space (550 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 3 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 4 large bags or 4 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Peugeot 308 estate is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 5 large bags with its 810 litres.

Is the Skoda Rapid easy to park?

Given a typical supermarket space, the Rapid is easy to park. (If you want the detail it will fill just just under three quarters of the bay). This is as narrow as cars in the Small Family class get, and gives you the maximum door opening space.

When it comes to parking on the street, the Rapid is one of the hardest. It has a turning circle of 11m, and a length of 4483m, giving you a relatively small 317mm gap to turn the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking instead, the Suzuki Baleno.

Which Skoda Rapid has the best performance?

The fastest Skoda Rapid from 0-60, is the 1.4L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 200 lbs/ft torque and 125 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 9 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Audi A3 1.4L petrol, which will beat your Skoda Rapid to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Skoda Rapid tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Skoda Rapid 1.6L diesel which has 250 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1200kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
