How much does the Skoda Fabia cost to run?

The 1.2L diesel is the most economical Skoda Fabia to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Skoda Fabia 1.2L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does just over 83 MPG on average, which means it will cost £7.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Peugeot 208 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Alfa Romeo Mito 1.2L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 9, which is lower than the Alfa Romeo Mito 1.2L diesel, but higher than the Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Ford KA+ has the lowest insurance group.)

Skoda Fabia: How big is the boot?

The Skoda Fabia estate has a bigger boot than the hatchback (it can hold 515 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This allows the estate to take one pushchair and 3 large bags or 4 large bags. While the hatchback takes just 2 large bags.

The Skoda Fabia estate is the best in class, and better than its closest rival SEAT Ibiza.

Is the Skoda Fabia easy to park?

While not the absolute narrowest car (that is the Hyundai I10), this is in the top third for ease of parking in car parks. Given a typical supermarket space, it will fill just under three quarters of the space.

For parallel parking, the Fabia is the worst in its class. It has a turning circle of 10m, and a length of 4120 metres, giving you a tiny 680mm gap to swing the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking, the Smart Forfour.

Which Skoda Fabia has the best performance?

The fastest Skoda Fabia from 0-60, is the 1.4L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 250 lbs/ft torque and 180 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 7.3 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the MINI Hatchback 1.6L petrol, which will beat your Skoda Fabia to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Skoda Fabia tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Skoda Fabia 1.6L diesel which has 250 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1200kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
