How much does the Renault Scenic cost to run?

The 1.5L diesel is the most economical Renault Scenic to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency. Compared to the competition in the Small MPV segment, it’s one of the best you can choose.

The Renault Scenic 1.5L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does almost 81 MPG on average, which means it will cost £8.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 11, which is lower than the Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Ford B Max 1.5L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Peugeot Partner Tepee has the lowest insurance group.)

Renault Scenic: How big is the boot?

The Renault Scenic has an above average boot space (484 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 3 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 4 large bags or 4 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Citroen Berlingo Multispace MPV is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 5 large bags with its 762 litres.

Is the Renault Scenic easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower Nissan Note.

If you park on the street regularly, this is one of the cars to shortlist. At 4362m long it gives you reasonable 438mm space to move the car in and out of the bay.

Which Renault Scenic has the best performance?

The fastest Renault Scenic from 0-60, is the 2.0L diesel (if you’re a petrol head, it has 380 lbs/ft torque and 160 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 9.1 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Citroen C4 Picasso 1.6L petrol, which will beat your Renault Scenic to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Renault Scenic tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Renault Scenic 1.3L petrol which has 240 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1850kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
