How much does the Nissan Qashqai cost to run?

The 1.5L diesel is the most economical Nissan Qashqai to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency. Compared to the competition in the Crossover segment, it’s the car that’s going to have the most negative impact on your monthly budget.

The Nissan Qashqai 1.5L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does just over 74 MPG on average, which means it will cost £8.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Dacia Sandero Stepway 1.5L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 13, which is lower than the Dacia Duster 1.5L diesel, but higher than the Peugeot 3008 1.6L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Citroen C3 Aircross has the lowest insurance group.)

Nissan Qashqai: How big is the boot?

The Nissan Qashqai has an above average boot space (422 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 2 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 3 large bags or 3 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Renault Kadjar hatchback is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 4 large bags with its 647 litres.

Is the Nissan Qashqai easy to park?

The Nissan Qashqai is very middle of the road - it fills three quarters of a space. There are lots of wider cars, but just as many that are narrower and feel easier to park. For example, the Citroen C4 Cactus.

When it comes to parking on the street, the Qashqai is one of the hardest. It has a turning circle of 11m, and a length of 4370m, giving you a relatively small 430mm gap to turn the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking instead, the Hyundai IX20.

Which Nissan Qashqai has the best performance?

The fastest Nissan Qashqai from 0-60, is the 1.3L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 260 lbs/ft torque and 160 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 8.9 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Jeep Renegade 1.4L petrol, which will beat your Nissan Qashqai to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Nissan Qashqai tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Nissan Qashqai 1.6L diesel which has 320 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1800kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
