How much does the MINI Paceman cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical MINI Paceman to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The MINI Paceman 1.6L diesel costs £30.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band C.

It does just over 64 MPG on average, which means it will cost £9.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Jeep Renegade 1.6L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 15, which is lower than the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.5L diesel, but higher than the Fiat 500X 1.6L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Citroen C3 Aircross has the lowest insurance group.)

MINI Paceman: How big is the boot?

The MINI Paceman has a below average boot space (330 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and one large bag. Alternatively you could load up with 2 large bags or 2 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Renault Kadjar hatchback is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 4 large bags with its 647 litres.

Is the MINI Paceman easy to park?

The MINI Paceman is very middle of the road - it fills three quarters of a space. There are lots of wider cars, but just as many that are narrower and feel easier to park. For example, the Citroen C4 Cactus.

If you park on the street regularly, this is one of the cars to shortlist. At 4113m long it gives you reasonable 687mm space to move the car in and out of the bay.

Which MINI Paceman has the best performance?

The fastest MINI Paceman from 0-60, is the 1.6L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 300 lbs/ft torque and 218 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 6.9 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the BMW X1 2.0L diesel, which will beat your MINI Paceman to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the MINI Paceman tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the MINI Paceman 2.0L diesel which has 305 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1200kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
