How much does the Mazda CX-3 cost to run?

The 1.5L diesel is the most economical Mazda CX-3 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Mazda CX-3 1.5L diesel costs £20.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band B.

It does not far off 71 MPG on average, which means it will cost £9.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Nissan Qashqai 1.5L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 13, which is lower than the Dacia Duster 1.5L diesel, but higher than the Jeep Renegade 1.6L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Citroen C3 Aircross has the lowest insurance group.)

Mazda CX-3: How big is the boot?

The Mazda CX-3 has a below average boot space (341 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and one large bag. Alternatively you could load up with 2 large bags or 2 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Renault Kadjar hatchback is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 4 large bags with its 647 litres.

Is the Mazda CX-3 easy to park?

While not the absolute narrowest car (that is the Citroen C4 Cactus), this is in the top third for ease of parking in car parks. Given a typical supermarket space, it will fill three quarters of the space.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the CX-3 is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 525mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the Dacia Sandero Stepway.

Which Mazda CX-3 has the best performance?

The fastest Mazda CX-3 from 0-60, is the 2.0L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 204 lbs/ft torque and 150 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 8.7 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the BMW X1 2.0L diesel, which will beat your Mazda CX-3 to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.
