How much does the Kia Soul cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical Kia Soul to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Kia Soul 1.6L diesel costs £125.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band D.

It does almost 59 MPG on average, which means it will cost £10.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Renault Kadjar 1.6L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 9, which is lower than the Fiat 500X 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.2L petrol. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Citroen C3 Aircross has the lowest insurance group.)

Kia Soul: How big is the boot?

The Kia Soul has a below average boot space (347 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and one large bag. Alternatively you could load up with 2 large bags or 2 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Renault Kadjar hatchback is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 4 large bags with its 647 litres.

Is the Kia Soul easy to park?

The Kia Soul is very middle of the road - it fills three quarters of a space. There are lots of wider cars, but just as many that are narrower and feel easier to park. For example, the Citroen C4 Cactus.

If you park on the street regularly, this is one of the cars to shortlist. At 4125m long it gives you reasonable 675mm space to move the car in and out of the bay.

Which Kia Soul has the best performance?

The fastest Kia Soul from 0-60, is the 1.6L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 265 lbs/ft torque and 201 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the MINI Countryman 2.0L diesel, which will beat your Kia Soul to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Kia Soul tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Kia Soul 1.6L diesel which has 300 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1300kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
