How much does the Hyundai I20 cost to run?

The 1.2L petrol is the most economical Hyundai I20 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Hyundai I20 1.2L petrol costs £20.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band B.

It does just over 60 MPG on average, which means it will cost £10.00* in petrol every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Peugeot 208 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Honda Jazz 1.3L petrol.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 4, which is lower than the Dacia Sandero 1.1L petrol, but higher than the Ford KA 1.2L petrol. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Ford KA+ has the lowest insurance group.)

Hyundai I20: How big is the boot?

The Hyundai I20 coupe has a bigger boot than the hatchback (it can hold 311 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This allows the coupe to take one pushchair and one large bag or 2 large bags. While the hatchback takes just 2 large bags.

Worth knowing, the Skoda Fabia estate is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 3 large bags with its 515 litres.

Is the Hyundai I20 easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower Hyundai I10.

When it comes to parking on the street, the I20 is one of the hardest. It has a turning circle of 10m, and a length of 4023m, giving you a relatively small 777mm gap to turn the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking instead, the Smart Forfour.

Which Hyundai I20 has the best performance?

The fastest Hyundai I20 from 0-60, is the 1.0L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 171 lbs/ft torque and 120 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 10.2 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the DS 3 2.0L petrol, which will beat your Hyundai I20 to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Hyundai I20 tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Hyundai I20 1.0L petrol which has 172 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1110kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
