How much does the Ford Kuga cost to run?

The 1.5L diesel is the most economical Ford Kuga to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Ford Kuga 1.5L diesel costs £30.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band C.

It does just over 64 MPG on average, which means it will cost £9.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Suzuki Vitara 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Honda CR-V 1.6L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 15, which is lower than the Suzuki Vitara 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Hyundai IX35 1.6L petrol. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Suzuki Vitara has the lowest insurance group.)

Ford Kuga: How big is the boot?

The Ford Kuga has a below average boot space (422 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 2 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 3 large bags or 3 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Land Rover Discovery Sport SUV is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 7 large bags with its 981 litres.

Is the Ford Kuga easy to park?

The Ford Kuga is very middle of the road - it fills just over three quarters of a space. There are lots of wider cars, but just as many that are narrower and feel easier to park. For example, the Suzuki Jimny.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the Kuga is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 279mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the Suzuki Jimny.

Which Ford Kuga has the best performance?

The fastest Ford Kuga from 0-60, is the 2.5L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 320 lbs/ft torque and 200 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 8.2 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Audi Q3 2.0L diesel, which will beat your Ford Kuga to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Ford Kuga tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Ford Kuga 2.0L diesel which has 400 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 2100kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
