How much does the Citroen DS4 cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical Citroen DS4 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Citroen DS4 1.6L diesel costs £30.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band C.

It does almost 66 MPG on average, which means it will cost £9.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

This is at the other end of the spectrum compared to the best in class Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6L diesel which achieves just over 83 MPG.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 17, which is lower than the Kia Soul 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Mazda CX-3 1.5L diesel.

Citroen DS4: How big is the boot?

The Citroen DS4 has a below average boot space (385 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 2 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 3 large bags or 3 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Renault Kadjar hatchback is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 4 large bags with its 647 litres.

Is the Citroen DS4 easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower Citroen C4 Cactus.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the DS4 is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 525mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the Dacia Sandero Stepway.

Which Citroen DS4 has the best performance?

The fastest Citroen DS4 from 0-60, is the 2.0L diesel (if you’re a petrol head, it has 340 lbs/ft torque and 160 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 9.3 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the BMW X1 2.0L diesel, which will beat your Citroen DS4 to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Citroen DS4 tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Citroen DS4 2.0L diesel which has 340 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1550kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
