How much does the Citroen DS3 cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical Citroen DS3 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Citroen DS3 1.6L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does not far off 79 MPG on average, which means it will cost £8.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Peugeot 208 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Ford Fiesta 1.5L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 15, which is lower than the Audi A1 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Ford Fiesta 1.5L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Ford KA+ has the lowest insurance group.)

Citroen DS3: How big is the boot?

The Citroen DS3 hatchback has a bigger boot than the convertible (it can hold 285 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This allows the hatchback to take one pushchair and one large bag or 2 large bags. While the convertible takes just 2 large bags.

Worth knowing, the Skoda Fabia estate is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 3 large bags with its 515 litres.

Is the Citroen DS3 easy to park?

The Citroen DS3 is very middle of the road - it fills just under three quarters of a space. There are lots of wider cars, but just as many that are narrower and feel easier to park. For example, the Hyundai I10.

If you park on the street regularly, this is one of the cars to shortlist. At 3948m long it gives you reasonable 852mm space to move the car in and out of the bay.

Which Citroen DS3 has the best performance?

The fastest Citroen DS3 from 0-60, is the 1.6L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 240 lbs/ft torque and 155 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 7.3 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the MINI Hatchback 1.6L petrol, which will beat your Citroen DS3 to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Citroen DS3 tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Citroen DS3 1.6L diesel which has 285 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1150kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
