How much does the Citroen C4 Picasso cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical Citroen C4 Picasso to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency. Compared to the competition in the Small MPV segment, it’s the car that’s going to have the most negative impact on your monthly budget.

The Citroen C4 Picasso 1.6L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does just over 74 MPG on average, which means it will cost £8.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Nissan Note 1.5L diesel and the more thirsty Renault Scenic 1.5L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 15, which is lower than the Ford C Max 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Nissan Note 1.5L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Peugeot Partner Tepee has the lowest insurance group.)

Citroen C4 Picasso: How big is the boot?

The Citroen C4 Picasso has an above average boot space (528 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 3 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 4 large bags or 4 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Citroen Berlingo Multispace MPV is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 5 large bags with its 762 litres.

Is the Citroen C4 Picasso easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower Nissan Note.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the C4 Picasso is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 353mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the Kia Venga.

Which Citroen C4 Picasso has the best performance?

The fastest Citroen C4 Picasso from 0-60, is the 1.6L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 240 lbs/ft torque and 163 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 8.4 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Ford C Max 1.6L petrol, which is slower by 0.1 seconds.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Citroen C4 Picasso tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Citroen C4 Picasso 2.0L diesel which has 370 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1700kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
