How much does the Citroen C4 cost to run?

The 1.6L diesel is the most economical Citroen C4 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Citroen C4 1.6L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does not far off 86 MPG on average, which means it will cost £7.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

In terms of fuel efficiency, it sits between the Peugeot 308 1.6L diesel and the more thirsty Audi A3 1.6L diesel.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 20, which is lower than the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.6L diesel, but higher than the Audi A3 1.6L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Honda Civic has the lowest insurance group.)

Citroen C4: How big is the boot?

The Citroen C4 has a below average boot space (376 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 2 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 3 large bags or 3 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Peugeot 308 estate is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 5 large bags with its 810 litres.

Is the Citroen C4 easy to park?

The Citroen C4 is very middle of the road - it fills three quarters of a space. There are lots of wider cars, but just as many that are narrower and feel easier to park. For example, the Skoda Rapid.

If you park on the street regularly, this is one of the cars to shortlist. At 4314m long it gives you reasonable 486mm space to move the car in and out of the bay.

Which Citroen C4 has the best performance?

The fastest Citroen C4 from 0-60, is the 2.0L diesel (if you’re a petrol head, it has 340 lbs/ft torque and 150 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 8.6 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Audi A3 2.0L diesel, which will beat your Citroen C4 to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Citroen C4 tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Citroen C4 2.0L diesel which has 320 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1811kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
