How much does the Citroen C3 cost to run?

The 1.4L diesel is the most economical Citroen C3 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency.

The Citroen C3 1.4L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A.

It does just over 83 MPG on average, which means it will cost £7.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

This is at the other end of the spectrum compared to the best in class Peugeot 208 1.6L diesel which achieves just over 94 MPG.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 9, which is lower than the Dacia Sandero 1.5L diesel, but higher than the Ford Fiesta 1.4L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Ford KA+ has the lowest insurance group.)

Citroen C3: How big is the boot?

The Citroen C3 has an above average boot space (299 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and one large bag. Alternatively you could load up with 2 large bags or 2 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Skoda Fabia estate is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 3 large bags with its 515 litres.

Is the Citroen C3 easy to park?

Given a typical supermarket space, the C3 is hard to park. (If you want the detail it will fill just under three quarters of the bay). This is the widest car in the Supermini class, and you may need to breathe in a bit when getting in and out.

If you park on the street regularly, this is one of the cars to shortlist. At 3945m long it gives you reasonable 855mm space to move the car in and out of the bay.

Which Citroen C3 has the best performance?

The fastest Citroen C3 from 0-60, is the 1.6L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 160 lbs/ft torque and 120 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 8.9 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4L petrol, which will beat your Citroen C3 to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Citroen C3 tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Citroen C3 1.6L diesel which has 214 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1212kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
