How much does the BMW Z4 cost to run?

The 2.0L petrol is the most economical BMW Z4 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency. Compared to the competition in the Convertible segment, it’s the car that’s going to have the most negative impact on your monthly budget.

The BMW Z4 2.0L petrol costs £145.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band E.

It does just over 46 MPG on average, which means it will cost £13.00* in petrol every 100 miles driven.

This is at the other end of the spectrum compared to the best in class Mercedes Benz SLC 2.1L diesel which achieves not far off 71 MPG.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 30, which is lower than the Mazda MX-5 2.0L petrol, but higher than the Mazda MX-5 2.0L petrol. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Mazda MX-5 has the lowest insurance group.)

BMW Z4: How big is the boot?

The BMW Z4 has an above average boot space (307 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and one large bag. Alternatively you could load up with 2 large bags or 2 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Mercedes Benz SLK convertible is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and one large bag with its 335 litres.

Is the BMW Z4 easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower MINI Roadster.

For parallel parking, the Z4 is the worst in its class. It has a turning circle of 11m, and a length of 4249 metres, giving you a tiny 551mm gap to swing the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking, the Mazda MX-5.

Which BMW Z4 has the best performance?

The fastest BMW Z4 from 0-60, is the 3.0L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 500 lbs/ft torque and 340 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Mazda MX-5 2.0L petrol, which is slower by 1.9 seconds.
