BMW 4 Series: How big is the boot?

The BMW 4 Series coupe has a bigger boot than the convertible (it can hold 463 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This allows the coupe to take one pushchair and 2 large bags or 3 large bags. While the convertible takes just 3 large bags.

Worth knowing, the BMW 2 Series MPV is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 3 large bags with its 560 litres.

Is the BMW 4 Series easy to park?

The BMW 4 Series is very middle of the road - it fills three quarters of a space. There are lots of wider cars, but just as many that are narrower and feel easier to park. For example, the MINI Coupe.

When it comes to parking on the street, the 4 Series is one of the hardest. It has a turning circle of 11m, and a length of 4638m, giving you a relatively small 162mm gap to turn the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking instead, the MINI Coupe.

Which BMW 4 Series has the best performance?

The fastest BMW 4 Series from 0-60, is the 3.0L diesel (if you’re a petrol head, it has 630 lbs/ft torque and 313 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Porsche 911 3.0L petrol, which will beat your BMW 4 Series to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the BMW 4 Series tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the BMW 4 Series 3.0L diesel which has 630 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1800kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
