How much does the BMW 2 Series cost to run?

The 1.5L diesel is the most economical BMW 2 Series to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency. Compared to the competition in the Coupe segment, it will make the smallest dent in your wallet.

The BMW 2 Series 1.5L diesel is free to tax, as it sits in tax band A. In fact this is the lowest CO2 output of any model in the Coupe segment at the time of writing. Good job, BMW.

It does just over 74 MPG on average, which means it will cost £8.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

This is the best fuel economy in class, and better than the next three cars: Volkswagen Scirocco, MINI Coupe, Peugeot RCZ

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 11, which is the lowest insurance group in this class bar none.

BMW 2 Series: How big is the boot?

The BMW 2 Series comes in four different body shapes, with different boots, the MPV able to take up to 560.

This allows space for one pushchair and 3 large bags or 4 large bags. The hatchback can take 4 large bags, the coupe fits 3 large bags and the convertible can take 2 cabin bags.

The BMW 2 Series MPV is the best in class, and better than its closest rival BMW 4 Series.

Is the BMW 2 Series easy to park?

While not the absolute narrowest car (that is the MINI Coupe), this is in the top third for ease of parking in car parks. Given a typical supermarket space, it will fill three quarters of the space.

If you don’t park in the street that much, then the 2 Series is fine. It will go in to an average street slot, giving you a gap of 370mm to swing in and out. But if you street park a lot you may want to look at the MINI Coupe.

Which BMW 2 Series has the best performance?

The fastest BMW 2 Series from 0-60, is the 2.0L petrol (if you’re a petrol head, it has 350 lbs/ft torque and 252 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the Jaguar F Type 3.0L petrol, which will beat your BMW 2 Series to 60 by 0.1 seconds. That’s a big gap in Formula 1, but not something you would notice in your commute to work.

What size caravan or trailer, can the BMW 2 Series tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the BMW 2 Series 2.0L diesel which has 400 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 1600kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
