How much does the Audi Q5 cost to run?

The 2.0L diesel is the most economical Audi Q5 to run, taking into account insurance, tax and fuel efficiency. Compared to the competition in the SUV segment, it’s the car that’s going to have the most negative impact on your monthly budget.

The Audi Q5 2.0L diesel costs £145.00 a year to tax, as it sits in tax band E.

It does not far off 57 MPG on average, which means it will cost £11.00* in diesel every 100 miles driven.

This is at the other end of the spectrum compared to the best in class Suzuki Vitara 1.6L diesel which achieves not far off 71 MPG.

The lower the insurance group, the cheaper a car should be to insure. This model is rated insurance group 29, which is lower than the BMW X3 2.0L diesel, but higher than the Jeep Cherokee 2.0L diesel. (If insurance cost is important to you then the Suzuki Vitara has the lowest insurance group.)

Audi Q5: How big is the boot?

The Audi Q5 has a below average boot space (540 litres of luggage with the seats up).

This would allow one pushchair and 3 large bags. Alternatively you could load up with 4 large bags or 4 cabin bags instead.

Worth knowing, the Land Rover Discovery Sport SUV is the best in class, allowing for one pushchair and 7 large bags with its 981 litres.

Is the Audi Q5 easy to park?

This is one of the widest cars in the class, which makes it feel like a bit of a squeeze in the multi-stories. If that stresses you a bit, try the much narrower Suzuki Jimny.

When it comes to parking on the street, the Q5 is one of the hardest. It has a turning circle of 12m, and a length of 4635m, giving you a relatively small 165mm gap to turn the car in and out.

If you don’t have a drive, you should look at the best in class for parallel parking instead, the Suzuki Jimny.

Which Audi Q5 has the best performance?

The fastest Audi Q5 from 0-60, is the 3.0L diesel (if you’re a petrol head, it has 620 lbs/ft torque and 286 bhp). It hits 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

The closest rival in its class is the BMW X3 3.0L diesel, which will beat your Audi Q5 to 60 by 0.5 seconds. That doesn’t sound much, but in 0-60 terms it’s actually a big gap.

What size caravan or trailer, can the Audi Q5 tow?

If you are towing you want good torque to pull away easily despite the extra weight, and the car needs to be at least 15% heavier than the caravan to keep you stable at speed.

The model that can tow the biggest caravan or heaviest trailer is the Audi Q5 3.0L diesel which has 620 lbs/ft torque. It should be able to tow a braked caravan or trailer that weighs up to 2400kg comfortably.

You must check your car handbook – maximum towing weights vary considerably with different engine and gearbox combinations.
