Fiat 500 La Prima by Bocelli gets belter-ready JBL sound system

Italian opera legend Andrea Bocelli helps with the design of Fiat's new Electric 500 variant, which gets fine-tuned JBL audio tech

article hero

World-renowned opera singer Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo have worked with Fiat to create a new version of its Electric 500 city car. The new Fiat 500 La Prima by Bocelli is kitted out with a bespoke JBL sound system, which has been fine-tuned with input from Bocelli senior himself. For those who like driving around town blaring opera belters on the stereo, that's got to be a pretty big deal. And for the rest of us, there's always this 500 EV's lovely design. Naturally, the Bocelli-inspired 500 La Prima jumps right to the top of the supermini's line-up; Bocelli is a legend, after all.

When it comes to the setup of that top-of-the-range JBL sound system, it's far more than just a bass and treble tweak. The tech comes equipped with ‘virtual venues’ technology, providing a crisp and immersive listening experience, according to Fiat. Perhaps this is as close as you can get to a live show in your 500, or having Bocelli sat beside you in the passenger seat to serenade you. The good news is unlike some other premium sound systems, this JBL one has been integrated without eating into any interior or boot space. Handy when the car is this small.

As you'd expect, there are a few more features to shout...actually, no...gracefully sing about. Like the subtle La Prima badge on the rear bumper, standard-fit LED lights and a set of eye-catching, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The interior features premium upholstery and an elegantly woven dashboard finish, plus a 10.25-inch touchscreen with all the digital trimmings, like wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and DAB radio.

The Fiat 500 La Prima has a 42kWh battery, which Fiat says can cover up to 199 miles on a single charge. With a fast 50kW charger, you can get this car from 20% charge to 80% in roughly 35 minutes, meaning you can top up the battery while you're out for lunch or doing the weekly supermarket shop. Or singing a few Bocelli classics. The electric motor will deliver 118hp, and it can do 0-60mph in nine seconds - giving you all the power you need for city driving or trips on the motorway.

Sold? The Fiat 500 La Prima by Bocelli will be available to order later this spring, with the price expected to be just over £30,000.
