What types of used Vauxhall Insignia cars are there?

The Vauxhall Insignia first launched in 2008 and has undergone many successful facelifts since then, but was discontinued in 2022 to favour electric hatchbacks and SUVs.  

This is a spacious family car that can easily seat up to five people with enough space for luggage in the boot.  

It's also good to drive and economical to run – which is now more important than ever.    

However, this vehicle isn’t just aimed at families – it's also well suited to working professionals looking for a solid executive vehicle to commute in.  

Another of the Insignia's attractive features is its spacious boot, which extends into extra cabin storage space in the cockpit.    

There’s a large range of models available too, including a variety of trims such as SE Nav, SRi Nav, Ultimate Nav and GSi.

The standard options are well-equipped, but we love the SRi NAV model for extra LED ambient lighting and chrome details.

What features does the Vauxhall Insignia have?

What’s good about the Vauxhall Insignia is that you don’t need to spend the big bucks to get a solid set of features.  

The entry-level Insignia SE is well equipped and comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, climate control and mobile phone connectivity, along with a seven-inch infotainment system complete with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.    

Some of the higher-specification model variants come with heated steering wheels, heated seats and a sunroof.  

Vauxhall is always working on improving the Insignia, and one of the main elements it has excelled in is ride quality.    

The Insignia is smooth at lower speeds and remains composed when at higher speeds. Even on the motorway, the Insignia is smooth, quiet, and – most importantly – very economical.

Is the Vauxhall Insignia reliable?

Modern-day Vauxhalls are very reliable cars, more so with the brand’s previous ties to the PSA Group and current ties with Stellantis (as of 2021). 

This is thanks to some solid engine options, strong overall build quality and the help of its Opel partnership. 

It’s a safe car too which was proven following its most recent Euro NCAP safety test where it was awarded a full five stars with exceptional occupant protection. 

How much does the Vauxhall Insignia cost to run?

For an everyday family vehicle or executive saloon, the Vauxhall Insignia produces some decent power. 

It comes with both petrol and diesel engine options, coming in at 197hp and 120hp respectively.   

As expected, the petrol-powered version offers more power and greater acceleration, whereas the diesel option returns better fuel economy on longer drives. 

The average fuel range readings for both models are between 40mpg and 56.5mpg depending on engine type and transmission option (the six-speed manual cars offer greater quoted fuel efficiency figure).   

This is very impressive considering the size and weight of the Insignia, making it the perfect mile-muncher or school drop-off vehicle.   

Who is the Vauxhall Insignia suitable for?

A used Vauxhall Insignia is a great car for families and working professionals because it’s very comfortable yet practical, especially in Sports Tourer form.
