Start nowTrying to pitch the world’s largest MINI to the British public sounds like a tricky feat, but it was far easier than the BMW-owned brand thought.
Because so many people want larger vehicles, the Countryman made perfect sense – especially when it was executed as well as this.
Despite being so much larger than its close relatives, the Countryman hasn’t lost any of the charm of a smaller MINI thanks to its handling, interior and exterior styling.
Early on, MINI didn’t offer trims on its cars, but rather packages. This changed after 2018 with the introduction of Classic, Sport, and Exclusive trims.
Later models have the option of a hybrid engine system, which has proven very popular among those living in and around cities.

As you’d expect, the interior of the Countryman is very similar to that of other MINI models across the range. It features a very large circular centre screen and fighter jet-style switches for the engine start/stop and other driver aids.
Newer models feature standard technology such as an 8.8-inch touchscreen information display with Apple CarPlay and sat-nav.
Optional extras available include the Navigation Plus Package, which offers a digital cockpit display, wireless charging capabilities and even Amazon Alexa connectivity.
The boot measures in at an impressive 450 litres and increases to 1,390 litres once the rear seats are down. However, it should be noted that hybrid models lose 45 litres of boot space in order to house the batteries.
Because it shares so many parts with the BMW X1, a used MINI Countryman is a very reliable car and also features components from other MINI models, making it easier to repair should it need to be fixed.
The refined petrol and diesel options are good on fuel for a fairly large car, but finding a plug-in hybrid MINI Countryman for sale will get you the most efficient setup, especially if you’re able to charge it regularly.
Car tax for these models is somewhere between what you’d pay for a hatchback and an SUV, and insurance can also be reasonable.
A used MINI Countryman is a great pick for families because it features two ISOFIX mounting points in the back seats, allowing child seats to be secured in place.
Not all MINI Countryman cars for sale are four-wheel drive, but if you’re after something that can handle itself on a muddy track, look out for 4x4 models, badged ALL4.
Its closest rivals include the BMW X1, Volkswagen T-Roc and Audi Q3.
You can get a used Countryman on finance, but the costs will differ depending on the model you choose and the terms of your finance deal.
Not all Countryman models are four-wheel drive, but every unit with ALL4 spec options feature it. Otherwise, all other Countrymans are front-wheel drive.
The Countryman came out in 2010 and has seen major facelifts since then. The most recent was in 2017, which offered sharper lines and an excellent hybrid system.
Being a family car, the Countryman features two Isofix mounting points in the back seats, allowing child seats to be secured in place.
