What types of used Lexus RX cars are there?

A Lexus RX for sale (1997-present) is a long-standing large Lexus SUV that adds luxury and class to your everyday family car.

Considered the world's first luxury crossover SUV, the RX has seen five different generations to date with both front- and four-wheel-drive variants on offer.

In its standard trim, the RX comes with a lot of kit. This includes eight-way adjustable leather seats, a DAB radio, reversing camera, automatic LED headlights and rain-sensing wipers.

Move up to the top-spec trims and you benefit from heated and cooled seats, a large 12.3-inch infotainment display, 20-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control and a Mark Levinson sound system with no less than 21 speakers.

While it's luxurious, the RX is practical too, with a 461-litre boot that grows to 1,678 litres when the rear seats are folded flat.

This is ideal for most people and families who can benefit from the extra rear storage.

Is the Lexus RX reliable?

Being owned by Toyota, Lexus cars are very dependable and can be relied on thanks to their solid engines and stellar build quality.

Owners of Lexus RX used cars report very few faults throughout their ownership.

A used RX is a safe car too, scoring a full five stars at its most recent Euro NCAP safety test in 2022.

This is thanks to safety features such as a vehicle stability control system, tractional control, anti-lock brakes and a range of airbags placed throughout.

How much does the Lexus RX cost to run?

Hybrid Lexus cars have always been fuel-efficient options for families, offering up to 44.8mpg from the most economical engine.

Opt for the plug-in hybrid RX450h+ and Lexus says you can get more than 200mpg.

Unlike a normal PHEV, this one's got a party trick so that when the battery runs out, it operates like a full hybrid, getting its power through regenerative braking.

Because it's a luxury hybrid SUV, insurance costs may be more expensive than some rivals, sitting in between insurance groups 34 and 43.
