What types of used Porsche 911 cars are there?

The Porsche 911 is the pinnacle of motoring and can be had in a wide range of different trims and versions.

Working up the range you get the Carrera, Targa, Turbo and GT models. Within these, there are coupés, convertibles and varying performance levels. You can also choose between manual and automatic gearboxes.

The most popular model to buy is the Carrera, which is the essence of a sports car. If you want more power and overall performance, however, then a Turbo S or GT3 is the way to go.

What features does the Porsche 911 have?

The 911 is unusual in that it’s rear-engined, which shouldn’t technically work, but the engineers back in Stuttgart made it work back in 1964 and have been perfecting the formula ever since.

While its flat-six engine is what you’re paying for, you do get some excellent features thrown in too. In the cabin, you get plush leather seats and a solid infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Additionally, you can add a whole host of optional extras such as exclusive exterior paints, different coloured leather interiors, more powerful Burmester speakers, different wheels, and a sunroof. The opportunities are endless, but you have to be willing to pay the price. Thankfully, used cars are much more reasonable.

Is the Porsche 911 reliable?

Porsche is famed for its reliability and has been for decades. It’s the classic case of German reliability but it runs true with all other Porsche models, not just its flagship 911.

With a honed-in and fuel-efficient engine, strong overall build quality, a strong chassis and tried-and-tested interior tech, we have no reason to believe the 911 wouldn’t be a reliable car to live with.

The 911 hasn’t been independently tested by Euro NCAP and we don’t expect it to be, but other Porsches score well. The 911 is packed with safety features including blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams and night vision.

How much does the Porsche 911 cost to run?

Despite being a sports car, the 911 is surprisingly fuel-efficient, offering 20.5-28mpg, which beats many of its rivals.

Some higher costs – aside from fuel – include insurance, with it sitting in the highest group 50, road tax (£570 per year), and general maintenance, which will vary.

Overall, they aren’t all that expensive to run, especially compared with their Ferrari and McLaren rivals. You could quite easily daily drive a 911 should you wish.
